Pius Wong prototypes and develops products, including products on the web. He has an engineering background in medical devices and robotics, and more recently he works in software and STEM education (science, technology, engineering, and math). Currently he specializes in front-end development as a contractor at Standard Beagle.
After receiving his Bachelors in Bioengineering at the University of Illinois at Chicago, he worked as an engineer for an orthopaedics company for five years, supporting R&D, manufacturing, marketing, and sales teams in Memphis, Tennessee, and Brussels, Belgium. He moved back to the USA to further his design education, receiving his Masters in Mechanical Engineering from The University of Texas at Austin. While doing his robotics research there, he taught math and mechatronics, and he fell in love with teaching. Afterward he worked for UT Austin to train K-12 teachers and to develop high school curricula in engineering design.
Pius now works in multiple roles, all connected to design. He does web development for clients at Standard Beagle, building on his previous technical background. He also supports teacher training in STEM with his education consultancy Pios Labs. Finally he continues to teach at the local community college, teaching math bright and early in the morning.
