This week we’re warming up and getting ready to support and cheer for Austin’s first major league franchise, Austin F.C.
Standard Daniel here, and I am more than just a music nerd; I enjoy many facets of culture, and one that is very near to my heart is sports. All sports. I enjoy basketball, football, baseball, soccer, hockey, swimming, tennis, track, ultimate frisbee, volleyball, the list goes on and on. I love sports movies (Remember the Titans) and I love sports television (Ted Lasso). Honestly, I could talk to almost anyone about any sport, any team. I just love the dedication to their craft, the pursuit of excellence, the grit and the grind, and Gritty, the mascot for the Philadelphia Flyers (he’s honestly horrifying, and I love that).
That being said, I am pumped to watch the Austin F.C. start their season this Saturday, April 17. If you need to get caught up, here’s a video from a vocal supporter of the club (he’s also a part owner).
Jock jams are songs to pump you up, pump the crowd up. That can be heard on Friday at high school football games (we’re in Texas after all), on Saturdays at a UT home game, or on Sundays in the NFL. They can be heard at Minute Maid Park in Houston (Go ‘Stros), the AT&T center in San Antonio (Go Spurs Go) and even up in Dallas (…eh… how bout them Cowboys?). We have some straight bangers on this list; ‘Thunderstruck’ by AC/DC, ‘Seven Nation Army’ by The White Stripes, ‘Tom Sawyer’ by Rush, and many more. There’s classic rock (Led Zeppelin, Guns N’ Roses, Queen), rap (JAY-Z, Drake, Waka Flocka Flame), and of course ‘Tubthumping’ by Chumbawamba. If you need a pick me up, there’s ‘Feel So Close’ by Calvin Harris and ‘Barbara Streisand’ by Duck Sauce. I dare you to not feel energized when listening to Duck Sauce. You can even sing along. The lyrics are literally just “Barbara Streisand”. It’s not really a song known for it’s lyrics.

All I do is win win win no matter, got money on my mind, I can never get enough, and every time I step up in the building, everybody hand’s go up, and they stay there. Cause all I do is win. Win. Win.
… and that’s how I live my life.
