State HUB (Historically Underutilized Business) certification follows
This month, after a 3 month application process, Standard Beagle Studio LLC was certified by the City of Austin as a Women-Owned Business Enterprise. Because of this certification, Standard Beagle has requested certification from the State of Texas HUB program. Certification is expected within days.
According to the City of Austin, the Women-Owned Business Enterprise certification is intended to:
- Encourage women business owners to participate in business opportunities with the City of Austin;
- Afford Women-Owned Business Enterprises (WBEs) an equal opportunity to compete for work on City contracts; and
- Encourage bidders to promote subcontracting opportunities to certified WBEs by soliciting firms for subcontracting opportunities.
All in all, this is an incredible opportunity for Standard Beagle, and we are proud of this designation because of the potential opportunities as well as all of the hard work it took to go through the application process. The application process is not intended to be hard, but the City of Austin holds to a strict set of standards, and they want to make sure a business is legitimately women-owned and operated before certifying.
